Caitlyn was in 3rd grade when she attended a school assembly about being a good neighbor and
helping others. The assembly came on the heels of Hurricane Katrina, and while Caitlyn did not quite
understand the true devastation that happened in New Orleans, she did come home and ask her mom "are there people in Dayton that don't have toys, food, and clothes because of the hurricane?" I explained that there are always people who need help, not just because of a hurricane. Caitlyn looked me right in the eyes and asked "Well, what are we going to do about it?" Well, what indeed! So Project T.O.E.S. was born. That first year, Caitlyn collected over 1,000 pairs of new socks. The following year, younger sister Cassidy joined in to help. This is the 11th year the girls have collected socks and together, with your help, they have donated over 14,000 pairs.
Caitlyn and Cassidy work Project T.O.E.S. from every angle. They speak to civic groups, schools, and businesses to obtain donations and secure donation locations. They sort, count, load, unload and deliver the socks. They are the ambassadors for warm feet for children in Montgomery County.
